SYAMIL SAPARI IS A VISUAL JOURNALIST BASED IN SINGAPORE.

He first picked up photography in his teens, experimenting with 35mm cameras as a hobby before starting his professional journey at Singapore’s largest daily broadsheet, The Straits Times, where he joined as an intern photojournalist in 2018 and later continued as a freelancer.

A graduate of the Singapore Institute of Technology, he is currently a visual journalist with CNA, covering news across Singapore and Southeast Asia. His newsroom experience has shaped him into an adaptable, perceptive and detail-oriented storyteller, with exposure to a wide range of assignments including breaking news, political affairs, sports events, live entertainment and major public gatherings.

Through his work in fast-paced editorial environments, he has developed a strong ability to understand people, context and audience behaviour. His experience covering sporting events has also deepened his appreciation of sport not only as competition, but as a platform for community, culture, commercial value and fan engagement.

Rooted in photojournalism but driven by a broader interest in the business and cultural impact of sport, he now seeks to bring his storytelling background, regional newsroom experience and audience-first perspective into the sports industry.
