SYAMIL SAPARI IS A VISUAL JOURNALIST BASED IN SINGAPORE.
He first picked up photography in his teens, experimenting with 35mm cameras as a hobby before starting his professional journey at Singapore’s largest daily broadsheet, The Straits Times, where he joined as an intern photojournalist in 2018, afterwhich he later continued as a freelancer while pursuing his university studies.
A graduate of the Singapore Institute of Technology, he is currently a visual journalist at CNA. His newsroom experience has shaped him into an adaptable and detail-oriented storyteller, with exposure to a wide range of assignments including breaking news, political affairs, live entertainment, and sporting events.
Among some of his key coverage and contribution include the 2018 Trump-Kim Summit, 2023 Singapore Presidential Election, 2023 & 2025 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, 2024 Singapore Pope Francis’ Visit and 2025 Singapore General Election.
In essence, he is a journalist who thrives in navigating complex on-ground situations to nail strong and sharp visuals, under time-sensitive conditions.
