The Korean Demilitarized Zone
Photographed for The Republican Post.
In 2017, I was a part of a group of students from Republic Polytechnic’s Diploma in Mass Communication to go to Panmunjeom and the historic Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) separating the North and South Korean borders.
The photographs taken there were published in an issue of The Republican Post, a student-led publication in our school campus.
A child balances her way on an abandoned railway that once operated between the northern and southern halves of Korea before the division in 1945. It was known as the Gyeongui Train Line.
A van drives by the vicinity of Panmunjeom, contrasting the colour of the tree.
A woman and four kids with matching outfits wandering around the vicinity of Paju, a historic site near the borders separating the northern and southern Korea.
Opposing South and North Korean military personnels overlooking the demilitarized zone separating the two halves of Korea.
A South Korean military personnel guards the door behind him, a path that leads to North Korea.
